Geological cross-sections at the Soultz-sous-Forêts and Rittershoffen geothermal sites. Location of the wells and interpretative trajectory of GRT-1 are indicated. GRT-1 crosses the major Rittershoffen fault only in the basement. The Kutzenhausen fault and the Soultz-sous-Forêts fault are intersected by both GPK-1 and 2. This fault causes a significant displacement of the formations and brings side by side the Tertiary and Jurassic sediments near the Soultz wells. Soultz-sous-Forêts cross-section modified after interpreted 2D seismic by Place et al. (2010). Rittershoffen cross-section modified after Équipe du projet GeORG (2013)
